 Jeene Ki Raah - 4

No Comparison please!

Avoid comparison between you & others. Someone may be better than you in one field. At the same time, you may be better than the same person in some other field. Many times, you may not be aware about your own strengths & qualities.

So, you are neither superior nor inferior to anyone.

I realised this during the shooting of "Kis Kiski Kismat". I was feeling inferior to Dharmendra ji, as I am a novice in acting. I was nervous & unable to give the right take.

He encouraged me and told me that don't compare yourself with Dharmendra. You are interacting with Mr. Mehta, the character. After this, I was able to give the OK take.

I also realised that my knowledge over share market & operating a computer is better than his.

That day, I learnt that all of us are equals if we take a wholistic view.

Avoid comparing others to others also. Ask any siblings, who love and care for each other. Yet, if parents compare them, they don't like it.

 Jeene Ki Raah - 2

EGO

Ego disconnects you to people
Ego gives a false self-assessment
Egoistic behaviour invites a kickback
Ego may make us feel good for a short period
Ego will not provide inner peace for long term

COMFORTABLE LIFE IS A MYTH

I want to live a comfortable luxurious life! Great!

What I don't realize is that it's a myth. It's never going to happen!

Why?

In order to live such life, I will need a lot of money and I will have to slog to earn that kind of money. To be comfortable, I have to be uncomfortable, though I may enjoy the process.

I want my car to pick me up in the lobby & drop at the nearest point at the office.
In the evening, I will have to run on the trade Mill at the Gym.

I want washing machine, vacuum cleaner to do my tasks supported by AI.
I will develop disease and the doctor will advise me to go through Physio therapy, which included all those activities, which I saved myself from.

Most of us do more of mental work than physical and land up in the queue outside the doctor's clinic.

There is no alternate to physical exertion. Do it by choice or out of compulsion. The choice is yours!

 *TIPS FOR TRAINERS*

I don't find worth in spending too much time on explaining the importance of the topic to the Learners. Many Trainers do so at the beginning of the session. Earlier, even I used to do so.

They are already here, by choice or by compulsion. So you don't need to oversell.

Rather, find out the pain areas, encourage discussion, narrow down the solution and take the feedback.

This engagement will be much more fruitful.

 TRAINING TIPS

The HR Manager of XYZ Ltd. invited me for an evaluation meeting.

Well dressed, I arrived!

As expected he told me to tell him about me… and I started off!

And I started talking!

What a blunder!

I know what you are thinking. He wanted me to talk about myself, introduce myself, talk about my success stories and that’s what I did. What’s wrong in that?

Really? Was the person truly wanted me to talk about me.

No way!

They wanted me to ask questions. They wanted me to know them. They wanted me to empathise with them and their problems.

What they really wanted to know was that am I capable of solving the problems faced by them and here I was proudly talking about me, in which they had no interest.

Be honest, even you must have done that, sometimes?

So what I should have done?

Introduce as briefly as elegantly possible and then ask questions and questions and questions.

Not to the level of irritating them, but to understand the issues, to check if you have a solution, to make them feel that you understand.

Your ability to understand their problems and provide solution is what they want or check.

Just do that and nothing else!

Global Warming

GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming is a reality! It is our own creation!

Everyone is aware about it!

Everyone expects someone else to do something about it
No one is willing to take personal responsibility to do something about it

There was a near draught situation in the kingdom of Akbar. Stock of Milk went below required level. So, the King ordered every citizen to share on tumbler of milk on that night into a designated pond.

Early morning, he went for inspection. The pond was full of water!
He was angry with the mass disobedience & asked Birbal to enquire the cause

Birbal reported that everyone poured a tumbler of water assuming that in the darkness of night, no one will see it and the water will get diluted with the large amount of milk.

But the problem was that everyone thought the same way & did the same.

After hundreds of years, we are once again doing similar stupid thing.

Though we have a solution - we will not use it.

Om Shanti!

HELPLESSNESS

My brother's wife is going through health issues since a long time.

The usual medicine, treatment, counselling is going on, yet there is hardly any improvement.

There is a feeling of helplessness in the family.

At this juncture, I realise the importance of this thought:

I guess, one more circle may be added here.

Circle of Acceptance

Allow the situation to flow and hope for some positive outcome.
As it is things are not under your control. You have done what was possible. You are still doing what you can. So just worry is not going to help.

On the contrary, a free mind will help adjust to the situation and think of a new creative solution.

Allow the free flow!

Difficult - yes, but possible.

Try it.

Vo Din Bhi Kya Din The....

So many times, we recollect our good old days!

We remember our childhood... and youth

and today?

The body is ageing
Mental Stress & Tension is there
So little time & so much to do
Business competition
Social challenges - standard of living
the list goes on and on...

Now let's look at today from a different angle...

I am alive
I am reasonably healthy
My Parents are there to bless me
I get enough food to sustain
I have at least few people around, who care!
I have my home, a vehicle, gadgets
I have kids
I have not so bad neighbours
I also have a pet
I get some opportunities to enjoy my life
I do what I like
I dream for a brighter future

Finally, what will be my future?

No one knows! While you are trying to figure it out, your present is slipping away.

Emerging Trends in Learning & Development

This is Arun Chitlangia

Since last 2 decades, I am in this industry watching ups & downs. Pandemic hit business is the latest one.

Now, all flood gates are open and it seems that most organisation wants to catch up real fast and there is large number of training requirement all of a sudden.

Shall we go back to pre-pandemic days & continue the way we left it? No way! We all know that it would be a grave mistake.

We need to understand the new trend that has emerged & still evolving. That would bring us true success.

So, what has changed and likely to change?

Few thoughts from my side and a request to each reader to add theirs.

1. The training is no more topic based. It's now issue or problem based. Find the pain area & offer solution - in whatever shape, method and language. That all is internal to you, the Trainer. For the client what matters is - fast solution, at low cost which really works and gives tangible results & benefits. Bottom line - it should solve the problem for which the initiative was taken in the first place.

2. you can no longer keep on talking & download all the Gyan to the Learner. Those days are gone. Now, you need to involve them, make them an equal partner in finding the personalised custom solution

3. Group solutions will not work anymore. If google can give you absolutely personally relevant information, you too should be able to give each Learner a specific solution that works for him/her and not a generic one.

4. Time based fee structure is obsolete! Solve the issue, repair the problem, collect your fee. Amount depends on the benefits they derive. Therefore, no upper limit to the fee you may like to charge.

In the next Blog, I will share the method for achieving the above objectives. Till then, have a nice time!
